The Time to decide is now. Can I afford to spend money now and get the best system I can, or do I want save money NOW, and repair my system down the road. Repeatedly.

Because, if you knew what was inside that case, you would understand how the price can be so low at Wally-world. The fact is, that if you visited a busy computer repair shop, you will find that MOST of the systems in for work are brand-name systems. This is due to a number of factors, including the components used in making the computer, and the user themselves; most folks who purchase custom systems are a bit more computer savvy, in terms of maintenance and things to avoid.

Just take a look inside the system in the shop and right away you'll notice a difference. Brand name systems are almost entirely integrated solutions, usually with low-cost parts, frequently with limited upgrade capabilities (especially with 'slim' case systems, the power supply is always special to that system). A Custom-built computer is typically built up using high-end components, with standard compatibility for all kinds of upgrades. The overall quality of the PC is generally higher, but you get what you pay for. If you buy a Intel Celeron or AND Sempron, you get a slower, lower-cost computer.

But imagine if you will, a Boeing 747 has dropped in price from several million dollars, to a price the 'Average Joe' can afford, under $1000, and you can go out, and pick one up in your favorite color, from a local seller, and take it home today. No less difficult to fly or maintain, you can own one and learn to fly with the best. When you crash, you must either possess the skills to fix it yourself, or call the manufacturer for support.

This is where a locally purchased, custom-built computer really shines. If you have a brand-name system, you will have to dial their 800 number and wait while your call is bounced around the world to speak with someone who might understand what you are trying to explain. If your system is in warranty, and you cannot resolve your problem over the phone or remotely, you may still have to put your PC in a box and send it off to them for repair. With a locally bought Custom-built computer, you make a local call and arrangements for service, with the guy you bought it from.

Furthermore, today's brand-name systems don't include manuals, or disks. With a Custom-built computer, you get all the manuals, for each of the parts in the PC, and the Windows discs, and drivers for motherboard and components as well. Some Local PC shops even offer imaging as an additional service giving you big brand-name features like Instant OS Restore, allowing you to recover the operating system without having to go through all the mess of re-installing everything.

In summary, a custom-built PC will usually outlast and outperform a brand-name computer, and will provide longer computer satisfaction, in the long run. And another thing to understand in economic terms, is that those little mom-and-pop PC shops spend the bulk of their dollars back into the local economy. Stay Local, Stay Green. Aren't you tired of sending your money to Washington and overseas??
